about

entrepreneur, scientist, philanthropist

I wanted to do more than just invest for financial return; I wanted to do something for the greater good.

Through a life dedicated to scientific investigation, medical research, and compassionate care, Michael has leveraged his academic curiosity and drive to improve and heal the world around him. As an academic, Michael has won multiple awards for paediatric dentistry research. He has passed on his knowledge as a lecturer in Europe and overseas at various international conferences, and as a professor at New York University.

Michael’s wider research in biomedical physics led to his curiosity for how innovation today can revolutionise the medical care of tomorrow. This organically led him to a new entrepreneurial chapter as a venture capital investor, where he works to support groundbreaking bio-med tech advancements that stand to radically improve patients’ health outcomes.

He forged his path as an investor in Silicon Valley by connecting with key figures in the space, including Peter Thiel and Ajay Rayan, who funded Mithril, and Lyndsey Fishburn at Breakout Labs. Through these connections, Michael discovered Cytovale, a start-up in medical engineering that uses cell mechanics and machine learning to find a more rapid way to diagnose fast progressing diseases like sepsis. He is now a lead medical technology investor and advisor in the company, and a champion of their cause.

From his clinical work, to his med-tech investing, to his seeking additional training in parent-infant psychotherapy, Michael is tireless in his pursuit to help others. He believes it is our responsibility to care for the world in which we live, and that tapping into our ingenuity is the best way to help and heal those in need.

I wanted to do more than just invest for financial return; I wanted to do something for the greater good.
